The other day I found this insect while coming home from a family walk. I kept it in my hands and held on to it long enough for us to take a couple pics of it. I think it's a praying mantis, but it looks pretty strange for one, doesn't it?

Rick Riordan and Pendragon 10!!!

Man, what a day I had yesterday. So awesome! It turned out so much better than I had a right to think it would. (Check out my posts on my other blogs later.) I went to Borders bookstore and caught lots of pics and vids of the bestselling Rick Riordan.

(These are actually pictures that I took. I practically stood the whole time next to his table as he signed all the kids books and answered their many questions. ^,^)

When he was finally all done with everyone, I was right there to say, "Mr. Riordan, will you please sign this?" And he did! Right then and there he grabbed my scrap of paper and autographed it for me!

Do you see it?! That's his loopy signature. ^_^ It's cool, because all he has to sign is an "Ri" and then a "Rio" and you can tell that it's Rick Riordan. I'm so glad I was able to catch him! It's too bad though... I'd also wanted to get a picture with Rick, but he said sorry, he was too busy and had to get to his next event right away. Oh well. I'm pretty content with having gotten his autograph.

So after leaving Borders, my sister and I walked all the way to Books-A-Million, where I spontaneously decided to buy Pendragon #10!!!

Cool, huh? I think it's uber-cool!!! That's my book on my table! And that's how thick the book is. I'm sooo going to enjoy it. ^,^ (Of course, I've got a load of other books to read first, so I can wait. At least I own it now and I don't have to wait until it comes out in the library! Hee hee.) I was riding my waveboard today, at one of my favorite parks, Peacemound. It's a fun place with lots of hills and a couple bridges. Bunch of squirrels and ducks too. But the hills are the best part, so Annette and I were dropped off at Peacemound to "rip" for awhile, and then we'd ride home. However, the paths are a little bumpy. They're mostly made of asphalt, not cement like sidewalks.

I don't have much idea of what happened. We were going down a bit of a steep hill, I saw some other people ahead. I noticed that Annette had jumped off her Ripstick because it had been too bumpy for her, but the board was in the middle of the path. I planned on jumping off to safety, but I was going too fast.

One moment I was on my board, the next I had skidded to the ground, my left hand stinging. Annette was immediately at my side. I really hurt, but I didn't feel the need to cry, so it mustn't have been that bad. Still, I was all, "It burns! It burns!" Lifting my left hand to see the damage, (my right hand was unharmed) I saw it had been scratched. I instinctively went to the lake nearby to "put out the fire" in my palm. Later I also discovered a big boo-boo near my elbow. Not pretty.

After I felt like I'd recovered myself, we got back to boarding. Just like my last Ripstick accident, I wasn't too worse for the wear. But I was a lot more careful. Luckily, I didn't get traumatized by the hill I went down. Maybe because I know it better than that ramp I tripped off of before.

They might be ugly, but here is what my scrapes look like. I want to post them here so that when I heal, I'll remember what they looked like before.

Why do I have to be the one to fall off of my board?! I hate drawing blood even more than I hate getting sick. I don't remember the last time I had to give myself some bandages. Well, I'm sure I'll heal soon enough.

Vegetarian Wonders

I know Jacoby has already posted today, but I just felt like showing off some more cool food pics. I realized I hadn't downloaded from my camera in a while and I remembered wanting to post these. So here they are.

A mutant strawberry! It's like a kind of siamese twins thing, two or three of them melded together. Crazy! And in my hand it looks like a butterfly, right?

I love strawberries. They're one of my favorite fruits. This one was really tasty. Of course, I find that I often regret eating a funny food, like that HUGE zucchini, remember? I mean, if I've taken the time to take a picture of it and laugh and marvel at it, I feel a little guilty about... killing it? But it's still food, right?

Speaking of zucchini, these next pictures are really cool.

These might look like ordinary lasagna and spaghetti, right? Wrong! It's raw zucchini! The lasagna we had on Friday. Annette and I made it ourselves. All you do is peel strips of zucchini and make it part of your regular recipe instead of the pasta strips. Sauce, cheese, the works. It tastes just the same! It might be messy, because the zucchini strips would be thin, but it's still delicious. The best part about this dish? You don't have to bake it like normal lasagna! You put it in the fridge until you're ready to eat. No, not until you're ready to be eaten, silly! The zucchini! (Sorry, bad joke.)

Same with the spaghetti, which we had today. Again, Annette's and my recipe. After you peel the zucchini, you slice them as thin as you can. Voila! Throw on the sauce, sprinkle cheese, have garlic bread, add meatballs, whatever you like having with your pasta. Trust me, you've gotta try it! You won't taste the difference. Who needs packaged pasta from the shelf? One regular sized zucchini will equal one good serving of veggie spaghetti.

You know what I call this? Using your vegetarian noodle! Get it?

Pizza Day

Guess what? First Tuesday of the month today. That means that my dad, sister and I got to make our homemade pizza. We used to make it every Tuesday, but for the new year we took it down to once a month. But that makes it a lot more special to have.
Don't that look good? My father makes the dough from scratch (and not just buying the dough in a baggy from the store either. I'm talking right from the beginning, with making the yeast rise and the kneading and stuff), and my twin Annette and I put the toppings on.

Personally, I think Jacoby likes the look of our pizza. He wishes he could have a slice. But he lives in Utah, and I'm all the way down in Florida. So, unfortunately, he can't. More for me, then! Nyeh! (wipe off the drool there, buddy ^,~)

Sorry that neither of us have posted here in a while. But I know that Jacoby is most likely busy with his huge, mysterioso, 100 clues project. (Check his regular blog to get in on it.) So anyway, I don't put a lot of pictures up here since I don't have the best camera in the world and I don't take many pictures of familiar things. Familiar to me, anyway.

I just want to close with a pizza joke. It's only slightly long, but it's pretty funny. My Uncle Danny told it to me when my family and I went to Israel.

So it's lunchtime at this school, and the cafeteria lady says, "Okay kids, it's Monday and today we're having pizza." And the kids get all excited and start pounding on the table, chanting "PIZZA! PIZZA! PIZZA!" And they get their pizza.

The next day the cafeteria lady announces, "Alright, today is Tuesday kids. Guess what we're having? Pizza." The children shout and bang on the tables again, just the same as Monday. "PIZZA, PIZZA, PIZZA!"

Wednesday the lady says, "We're having pizza today, boys and girls." And they chant "Pizza, pizza, pizza." Not so loud, but they're still excited.

The following day the cafeteria lady tells the children, "Well children, today is Thursday, so guess what we're having...? Pizza!" And the kids are no longer shouting, but they still chant, "P-i-z-z-a, p-i-z-z-a, p-i-z-z-a."

Friday the cafeteria lady makes an announcement. "Now, my dears, I hope you enjoy your lunch today. We've got... Pizza!" By now the children's chants sound long and drawn out.

"P--i--z--z--a, p--i--z--z--a, p--i--z--z--a."

And of course on Saturday and Sunday, the kids get the weekend off. But then it's Monday again and the kids walk in for lunch and there's the lunch lady. She says, "Okay kids, it's Monday and today we're having pizza." And all the kids in the room go...

"PIZZA! PIZZA! PIZZA!"

What do you think? In my opinion it's a lot better when it's told out loud than reading it. You need comedic timing, you know. You have to use an increasingly slower voice as the kids get more tired of pizza, and then an excited voice when they get pizza again. That's the funny part.

Okay. That's all I'm saying now.

*Edit* I think you should change the background around now, Jacoby. Just my opinion. Also, I don't want to be the only one posting in my book club. I'm only saying.

Prez Fest Pics and Vids

I got to go to the President's Day Festival and it didn't rain again all night! I had such a blast! All the rides I went on with my sister were so much fun. It was an unforgettable night. I hope Jacoby doesn't mind me putting up a couple movies as well as pictures. Don't worry, they're really good ones.

This thing was called the Ring of Fire. Cool, huh? This is my kind of ride. It's a roller-coaster going in vertical circles. So much fun. We go on it every year.
After this ride, The Orbiter, was over, the strap-in guy offered to take our picture. Alright, pop quiz, to see how well you guys know me. Can you tell who's who between us twins? (Hint: what color are our clothes?)
Alright, so have you theme-park goers ever had an Elephant's Ear? I never had, until last night. Don't worry, it didn't come from an actual elephant. It's just fried dough and powdered sugar on top. I also shared pizza and fries with Annette. And we never threw up on the rides!

Alright, here's the first movie you'd enjoy. This is me riding a mechanical bull for the first time in my life. Have you ever done this? It's so exhilarating! I stayed on for a good 45 seconds too.
This is a picture of me after I rode the mechanical bull (see the sticker?) and after I was conned into throwing darts at balloons for $10. I won this stuffed penguin after all my trouble. I named him Prezley, after the President's Day Fest, or after Elvis Presley, whichever you prefer.

I wonder if this is good quality? We went on the Yo-Yo and Annette had it so easy that she decided to take a movie while she was on. It's almost as if you're riding with her!

This is the view you get of the entire festival at the top of the Ferris Wheel. That was the ride that the whole family went on. You can see the moon up there, right? It was yellow. I had such an awesome time at the Prez Fest. Probably the best I've ever had.

Yay! This is Bettina Levy speaking. This is my first ever post on J. N. Future Author's Picture Perfect. (Hi, Jacoby! ^,^ You can edit this out later. Just wanted to say hi.) I kept wondering what I would put up here as a first post and today I found the perfect candidate. It's a photo I just took today! See, my mom and brother came home from the farmers market and came back with a giant, prize-winning zucchini!

Here it is as compared to my own arm! That's a cubit.

It is SOOO big compared to Adam's sweet hamster, Hazel.

Look at that! It's like, 3 times as long as her and twice as thick. That is, in size, not in intelligence. Hazel is actually the brightest of all the hamsters we've kept over the years. She's so cute, isn't she?

Anyway, can you believe this is a zucchini? I thought it was a green squash when I first saw it! I wonder how we'll fit it inside the fridge!

Solo Children

This one is pretty obvious to all that know of this series. This is Jacen and Jania the twins picking on their little brother Anakin. I loved all the books with Jacen and Jania. and I even like the ones with young Anakin.

One of my friends (do I count as a friend?) drew this FOREVER ago. since then she has gotten a TON better at drawing! She is a natural prodigy! So everyone send her something nice ^.~
Her screen name is Elocinaqui so everybody check out all of amazing work!

And ill even include a funny quote from her - "My hair is brown, my eyes are brown! -edit- I dont want to be brown my whole life!" Her talking to her mom (the teacher iv T.A.'d for and known since my 9th grade year).....maybe its only funny to me because iv met her....laugh anyways ^.^

This is my cat! His name is Dar. Its short for Darth - since he looks evil! Ok, hes not evil and he grows on you.

Dar is the coolest cat I have ever had. We got him from a convict! This guy was busted for being a car thief and the cat was turned over to the shelter. My mom is friends with the shelter ladies so they told her to pick up this cat. She did and Dar has been a member of the family ever since.

We have had him for 3 years and he is very temperamental. he wont drink from a water bowl, he just sits at the sink and meows until someone turns on the tap for him. and he likes to sleep under the covers! At night he will wander into my room and meow until i wake up. I'll then wake up and throw the covers over him. it isn't until he gets warm that he falls asleep. and if i dont wake up when he meows he'll jump on my bed and step on your neck o.O

He loves sitting on my dads old monitor and that is where i took this picture. It was about 7:30 in the morning and he was sitting all poised like that. so i grabbed the camera and took the picture. I think its Picture Perfect ^.^

Ok, this is also one of my Insperations! When i was just a little kid of 6, i saw the movie The Rescuers: Down Under. I loved it so much! I would watch it over and over again (That and the Little Engine that Could) But like all good things, it broke and i slowly forgot about it over the years. Years later I found a copy of the VHS version for $1, so i bought it and watched it. It is still as good as i remember it. ^.^ so when i found these pictures, i just knew i had to post them!

the top picture is of the Sketching and then the completed version. but after looking around, i found a picture that blew me away! Anyone that knows the rescuers knows that the first one is about a girl named Penny. This picture is what would happen if Cody and Penny ever meet. The Artist depicts it as both of them flying on Marahute. I asked if i could get one without the watermark but she calmly refused. I accept that though - her reasoning is people take credit for pictures like these. So everyone understand, Almost none of the pictures i post here will be mine. if they are, ill expressly state that...like alot ^.^

Ok, this is a book that makes my top 5 list. i really only like it because its a feel-good book. Its a fairly good book, with 2 series of 5 part books. so i picked a lesser character (picture bottom) and a main character (picture top) The picture of lady Pol is not what i imagine her to look like. but she is amazing all the same. as for the boy, if you have read the series you will recognize him easily.

It was pretty cool, and 1 of 2 pictures i found on the search of Atticus. the other was him with purple hair....yeah, i didnt like it much. So here is the picture for tomorrow.
