The other day I found this insect while coming home from a family walk. I kept it in my hands and held on to it long enough for us to take a couple pics of it. I think it's a praying mantis, but it looks pretty strange for one, doesn't it?

That is a praying mantis. I've seen brown ones like that before. Well, not exactly like that, but close.
